The Healing Power of the Arts Online Resource

I am creating a free online resource on incorporating the arts into outreach, healing, and fundraising efforts.

It is a compilation of new and existing projects and ideas, featuring the success stories of organizations who have already worked with the arts. This resource includes contact information for artists, arts organizations, and art therapists who work to end sexual and domestic violence.

Survival Songs in Color:

I am shifting the focus of my work, from detailing my own healing journey, to capturing the healing experiences of other survivors of sexual assault.

Survival Songs in Color is a collaboration. I am accepting written submissions from sexual violence survivors worldwide.

Please share the things that helped you heal: How did you regain your ability to trust. What images, colors, songs, prayers helped you feel safe again?

I will create a painting to reflect your writing. If you are an artist and are interested in sharing your own work (consistent with this theme), just let me know. I will send out a call for artists when the first exhibit date is scheduled.

Please remember that the focus of Survival Songs in Color will not be on the physical escape from violence. Emphasis will be on emotional strength, the beauty of survival, and the resilience of the human spirit.

The goal of this collection of words and art is to encourage both community healing and emotional resource sharing.

The Esperanza Angels Project seeks innovative spaces to raise awareness using the arts. The goal of the Esperanza Angels Project is to use art to leave observer/participants with realistic and lasting ideas of how they can help create a world safe from sexual violence.
